Come share your ideas for Memorial Field

What are you doing a 5:30 tonight?

Why not spend an hour at the Sandpoint High School auditorium helping shape the direction of Memorial Field?

As most have heard by now, the grandstands at Memorial Field are just a few years away from deteriorating to the point of being torn down.

Not doing anything is not an option. Sandpoint without a functioning Memorial Field is not Sandpoint.

A few years ago some money was raised to reinforce the grandstands but even then the clock was ticking before something more permanent would have to be done.

The time to act is now.

Nearly everyone who has spent time in this region has a memory at Memorial Field. Whether it is a Festival at Sandpoint concert, a memorable football, soccer or baseball game, or just the fact that the backdrop of the Pend Oreille River, make it almost a magical place.

Tonight the Friends of Memorial Field and CTA Architects will continue the public input portion of building the new and improved Memorial Field.

Replacing the existing grandstands, lights, etc. will cost more than $1 million for a facility FOMF hopes will last 50 years.

Fundraising has already started and you will hear more about that in coming months.

Take a few minutes tonight to share your thoughts or hear what others think the new and improved Memorial Field should look like.
