Webster, Lewis lead Bulldog golfers at Clarkston Invite

CLARKSTON, Wash. — Senior Mike Lewis carded a 93 to lead the boys team, while senior Jessie Webster shot a 92 to lead the girls, as the Sandpoint golf teams teed off the season Monday at the Clarkston Invite.

It was the first round of the season for all of the Bulldog golfers, who naturally knocked plenty of rust off on the course. Couple that with a cold, stiff wind on the long par 72 Clarkston Country Club course, and it proved a tough way to start the season.

“It was the first round for everybody,” said Sandpoint head coach Jim Alsager, noting three of his girls were playing their first competitive match. “The scores indicate that we’re not there yet, but it was a good place to start.”

Senior Charissa Chatburn shot a 101 in a solid first outing for the girls, and junior Trevor Litzell shot a 104 for the boys.

The Bulldogs are at the Lewiston Invite next Monday.
