Thanks go out to all who passed levy

I want to thank the hefty majority of voters who passed the supplemental school levy. You recognized that educating our kids is everyone’s responsibility and in everyone’s economic interest in this global society.

Thank you, teachers, for remaining loyal despite the Legislature’s disrespect. I believe you can count on this community not to take unfair advantage of your loss of bargaining power.

Thanks to the small cadre of unsung heroes who collected money and sent out mailers in support of the levy.

Thank you, Lake Pend Oreille School Board, for presenting a prudent levy package that recognized the economic realities facing Bonner County families while maintaining the initiatives that have produced such startling improvements in student performance.

Finally, and most importantly, thank you school administration for running a really great district. Lisa Hals, for getting A-plus audits of school finances, and Dick Cvitanich, for his diligence and clarity in explaining the purpose of the levy.
