SANDPOINT — With the hiring last month of Megan L. Johnson, the roster of lawyers at Berg & McLaughlin tallies four Sandpoint High School graduates out of the firm’s five lawyers.

Johnson, whose father and grandparents are natives of the Sandpoint area, moved here as a fifth grader and attended Washington Elementary. She was salutatorian of the SHS class of 2002.

She attended Whitman College for two years then the College of Idaho, where she graduated with a degree in business management. After working as a business analyst at Micron Technologies in Boise Johnson entered law school at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. She earned her law degree in May 2010.

After passing the bar exam, Johnson spent two months in Costa Rica to study Spanish and a month traveling in Europe.

“I love to travel, but coming home to start my career with Berg & McLaughlin is personally and professionally satisfying,” said Johnson.

Activities at Sandpoint High included the Academic Decathlon team and DECA. She recently started volunteering at the Panida.

Megan is the daughter of Bruce A. Johnson, a retired Sandpoint dentist, and Janie Johnson, former special education teacher at Sagle

“Megan is a great addition to our firm” said Bill Berg. “We provide high quality legal services to local residents and businesses and having lawyers with deep roots in the community is a real plus.”

Other SHS graduates at Berg & McLaughlin are Katie Murdock (‘05), Stephen Snedden (’97), and Toby McLaughlin (’92). The firm was founded by William Berg in 2001. McLaughlin joined as a partner in 2006. The expanded firm recently moved into new offices in the Panhandle State Bank Building.
