Webster, Chatburn lead Bulldog girls to second place
LEWISTON — Jessie Webster fired a 91 and Charissa Chatburn a 100 to lead the Sandpoint girls golf team, which shot a 441 to finish second among 13 teams at the Lewiston Invite at Bryden Canyon on Monday.
As an indication of how tough the course was playing, the girls medalist winner shot an 81.
The Bulldog girls knocked a whopping 21 strokes off the previous week’s team score of 462, dramatic improvement for a team that has been relegated to practicing indoors all spring and hitting into nets.
The Lewis brothers each broke 100 to lead the Sandpoint boys team to an 8th place finish out of 16 teams at the Lewiston Country Club. Mike Lewis led the boys team for the second straight week, carding a 91 while Chris Lewis shot a 99. Trevor Litzell and David Currie shot 102 and 104 respectively, as the Bulldogs showed overall improvement, shaving 19 strokes off the previous week’s team score of 415.
Clarkston’s No. 2 player shot an even par 72 to claim medalist honors, as the southern teams have had far more course time than the northern teams early in the season.
Both the boys and girls teams have a lengthy lull in the schedule, with the Moscow Invite next on the schedule on April 5.
SANDPOINT GIRLS (441) — Jessie Webster 91, Charissa Chatburn 100, Delaina Hawkins 115.
SANDPOINT BOYS (396) — Mike Lewis 91, Chris Lewis 99, Trevor Litzell 102, David Currie 104, Jared Presnell 111, Shea McKormick 132.
