Come for a visit and witness the learning

| March 17, 2011 7:00 AM

I urge anyone who hasn’t visited an elementary school in the Lake Pend Oreille School District to come witness student involvement and learning. If someone were to simply walk the halls of our schools on any given day, he or she would notice the inventiveness ever present in all our buildings. Our walls showcase student art projects, student writings, positive teacher messages and posters depicting character education.

Senior citizens sit among small children working to help improve reading skills while sharing their wealth of wisdom. Parents regularly help in classrooms and our busy PTA/PTO organizations are ever present in a variety of ways. Music productions are alive with song, dance, instruments and costumes. In the gym, you might see a blood cell bouncing through a heart as students learn about their bodies as well as participants in healthy individual and group activities.

Test scores are up, competitions are won, teachers are creative, innovative an nurturing. Our schools and staff are second to none. Come visit and see the magic that I witness every day. Thank you, Sandpoint.
