Krampert pitches Spartans to win over Bulldogs
PRIEST RIVER — Freshman Brittany Krampert picked up her first win of the season for Priest River, only allowing two runs on seven hits and helping her cause by driving in two runs at the plate in a 9-2 win over Sandpoint Tuesday.
The Spartans (3-3) started off with a four-run first inning after a two RBI double by senior shortstop and 2010 Intermountain League co-MVP Holly Hirst.
Tylar D’Agostino went 2 for 4 and Kym DaVault recorded the only RBI for the Bulldogs (0-3), who improved upon a one-hit performance against Coeur d’ Alene to total seven base hits against the Spartans.
Maggie Kirscher went the distance on the mound in defeat.
“I was happy to see us put the ball in play after the Coeur d’ Alene games,” Sandpoint coach Derek Dickinson said. “We had a better mindset going into the box and didn’t have many strikeouts. Priest River just made more routine plays than we did.”
Sandpoint travels to Kellogg High School on Thursday for a doubleheader and Priest River plays again tonight at Freeman, Wash.
