Dog-walking helps volunteers keep fit

An article in the March 26 edition of the Bee written by Dr. Wilet extolled the benefits of walking. I can personally vouch for this simple method to promote good health. For the past two months, I have been walking dogs at the Panhandle Animal Shelter and, in addition to increasing my energy level, I have been the recipient of doggie thank yous as expressed by their eyes and wagging tails.
In an hour you can walk at least two miles and two or three dogs can have a portion of their day improved by the exercise and human companionship they receive. Consider volunteering at the Animal Shelter to help both yourself and our canine friends.
