Be skeptical of unfair whisper campaign

I normally would not write a letter to the newspaper to report a rumor that is beginning to circulate around town, but in this case it is something that may be best brought to light early. What is being said is this: There people in the county planning to begin a whisper campaign against county Clerk Marie Scott questioning her honesty. These rumors will circulated just before the election when there will be little time to refute them..

I do not know Ms. Scott, I do not consider myself either a supporter or an opponent of her tenor in office, and I feel uncomfortable even reporting what I have been hearing. But if this kind of slander is planned I am hoping that this letter might make people skeptical of the timing and veracity.
