Kelly has much to offer county, voters

| April 17, 2012 7:00 AM

Please consider casting your vote for Cary Kelly in the May 15 Republican primary. He is running for Bonner County commissioner, District 3.

I’ve known Cary Kelly for some 12 years; we’re neighbors. Cary is a bright, honest, careful, diplomatic man. I’ve always admired his ability to get to the heart of a problem — his ability to ignore the irrelevant and to focus on the crux of the issue, and then to formulate the most appropriate response.

Indeed, as supervisor of the Marine Sheriff Division for the last 11 years, he structured the department to serve our community and to ensure boater safety. Tickets were rarely written, and then only for egregious violations that endangered the boater himself or those others of us on the lake. I agree with Cary Kelly’s position that law enforcement and local government should serve the people, and that county spending decisions should be made with public safety and public roads the priorities.

Most of all I want to emphasize that I know Cary Kelly to be a man of integrity. I always feel a little better at night when I see lights on in the Kelly household next door. I’ll feel better yet with Cary as county commissioner protecting my personal and property rights.
