Rich is key actor in Scott's 'muppet show'

| April 17, 2012 7:00 AM

This letter is to inform the public about Marie Scott’s “muppet show,” which has been an ongoing theatrical production for many years in Bonner County. It is produced and directed by drama queen Marie Scott, who also is the county clerk. She has been behind the scenes pulling the purse strings of county government and some select county commissioners for a long time. In her current cast of characters, the lead “muppet” is Lewie Rich, starring in the role of “Chameleon Commissioner.” He dances to her tune, lip syncs her songs and changes his color when it’s to their political advantage.

Lewie Rich moved into the spotlight after her former “muppet,” prior commissioner Joe Young lost his re-election bid. But she kept Joe on the county dole by hiring him on the sly for a clerk’s position ahead of those on the applicant list. In fact, Joe’s name wasn’t even on the applicant list. Makes one wonder what was the quid pro quo.

Welcome to the theater of the absurd. Come was the incredible chameleon commissioner, Lewie Rich perform his quick change acts (with puppeteer Marie Scott). Admission is free for good ol’ boys and girls.
