Crossingham to play college soccer in North Carolina
SANDPOINT — After a successful two-year stint at junior college soccer power Yavapai, former Bulldog Adam Crossingham will continue his college career after signing recently with Lenoir-Rhyne University, a Division II school in Hickory, N.C.
Crossingham garnered All-National Junior College Region One honors, helping Yavapai post a 19-1-3 record and opening the eyes of college coaches from Lenoir-Rhyne.
“They watched me play and wanted me right away,” said Crossingham, who will play defensive mid. “They play a high level of soccer.”
The Lenoir-Rhyne roster is laden with international players, and last year only nine of the 24 on the roster were from the U.S. Last year the Bears finished 9-9-3, playing in the South Atlantic Conference.
Crossingham, who possesses the speed and skills to entertain the notion of playing after college, picked Lenoir-Rhyne over Northwest Nazarene and Western Washington. Plenty of different soccer styles, as well as languages, will be combined on the pitch next fall.
“You go down the roster and it’s England, France, Ireland, Brazil,” said Crossingham of the Bears’ roster, adding he might consider playing past college if the opportunity presents itself. “I’ll finish these two years and I might give it a shot. You only get one shot at it.”
