Girls doubles leads Cats
TROY, Mont. — Brocklynn Thornton and Claire McMahon won 8-5 at No. 1 girls doubles, and Heather Wold and Lyndsie Kiebert won 8-3 at No. 2 girls doubles, leading Clark Fork to a 4-3 win over host Troy on Wednesday in nonleague tennis action.
The two doubles teams remain undefeated on the season, and Wampus Cat head coach Mary Jo Lambert said both teams are continuing to improve.
Tala Fehsel won 8-3 at No. 1 girls singles, while Samantha Meyers lost 8-0 at No. 2 girls singles.
Stillman Berkley and Tristin Bristol won 8-5 and lost 8-6 in their two doubles matches, and Allen Blankenship lost 7-6 in singles to round out the scoring for Clark Fork.
On Saturday in Lewiston, Thornton and McMahon only dropped one game in a straight set win at No. 1 girls doubles, and Berkley and Blankenship teamed up for a straight set win at No. 1 boys doubles, leading the Cats to a 5-2 win over Deary.
Fehsel won 6-4, 7-6 at No. 1 girls singles, Meyers lost 8-2 at No. 2 girls singles, Geoff Boudousquie lost 8-2 at No. 2 boys singles and Jon May and Autumn Wagoner teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 1 mixed doubles for Clark Fork.
In a 3-3 tie against Grangeville, Berkley and Blankenship scored a hard fought 7-6, 5-7, 7-5 win at No. 1 boys doubles, Wold and Kiebert won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 girls doubles, and McMahon and Thornton won 8-3 in a pro set at No. 1 girls doubles.
The 1A Cats are at 4A Lakeland on Tuesday.
