Bulldog boys and girls teams win discus at Lakeland Relays

RATHDRUM — A host of Sandpoint athletes fared well, leading the girls to second place and boys to third, but Lakeland swept the five-team Lakeland Relays on Thursday in Rathdrum.

In this meet, winners were determined by the combined marks of three teammates in the six field events, as well as nine forms of relays and one two-person mile.

A.J. Buratto, Josh Loutzenhiser and Todd Pays combined to win the discus handily, and Mathew Burgstahler, Tim Prummer, Sam Levora and Grant Kennaly teamed up to win the distance medley to lead the boys team. Levora also teamed up with James Cartwright to win the two person mile in 4:06, as each racer ran 800 yards, and Kennaly and Prummer teamed up with Lily DeAragon and Emma Weme to win the unique and rare coed relay.

Cassie Young, Megan McCoy and Nikole Alamillo teamed up to win both the shot put and discus, dominating the other teams’ marks. DeAragon, Weme, Mary Aylward and Kennedy Kindred won the 4x100 relay, and Kara Bruce, Katie Nicolich, Morgan Fulton and Bre Jones each ran a solid leg to win the 4x800 distance relay.

The Bulldogs are at the Coeur d’Alene Invitational today, starting at 9:30 a.m.
