POST FALLS — Sandpoint’s David Currie hit 12 out of 18 fairways, and chipped in on the 18th hole, leading to a career-low round of 76 to lead the Sandpoint golf team on Wednesday at the Lakeland Hawk Invitational, played at The Links Golf Course in Post Falls.

Jared Presnell and Christian Cook each fired an 88, as the Bulldogs dropped a hearty 43 strokes off of their last team score, a direct result of a week of practice time at the Elks.

“David wasn’t feeling well but he held it together, the first time in his career that he’s shot below 80 in a match,” said Bulldogs coach Tom Tharp. “The reason they’re doing so well is we’ve been getting some rounds in at the Elks, and it’s starting to pay off. We’re going in the right direction.”

Anna Aylward carded a 120 to lead the Sandpoint girls team. The Sandpoint girls are at the Chewelah Invite on Friday.

The Bulldogs are at the Lake City Invite on Monday.
