Sandpoint Volleyball Club advances
RENO, Nev. — The Sandpoint Volleyball Club U16 team finished second in its pool on the first day of the Far West National Qualifier in Reno, Nevada on Friday.
The team opened with with a two set win against the San Francisco Twisters, before losing 15-13 in the third set against the PVC Kaepa team out of Sacramento.
In the third and final match of the day, Sandpoint cruised to a two set win over Precision Volleyball Club of Sacramento, advancing to the gold bracket in a division with more than 200 teams.
Sandpoint head coach Jack Dyck said his team played solid, but not great, like they did the previous week in winning the Evergreen Championship.
“We played OK today, but it was good enough to advance,” said Dyck. “We’ve gone from 208 to 54 (teams), and a couple more pools to get through tomorrow to reach the final 16.”
Play continues today, and should Sandpoint continue to advance, possibly Sunday as well.
