Officers of the law deserve our respect

| August 5, 2012 7:00 AM

An excerpt from commentary posted at 10:12 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, to the Daily Bee (“Eliminating guns won’t end the violence”), as follows:

“Funny how the murder of one Border Patrol agent caused the response we got from Darrell Issa and his phony Fast and Furious investigation. You’re right, stuff like that always results in abuse.” (Posted by the most prolific far left liberal progressive blogger in Bonner County.)

I was utterly shocked by that abominable comment, as was every active and retired peace officer in Bonner County. My inescapable opinion is that this individual feels that the murder of but one law enforcement officer in the line of duty is of no concern.

But I am wondering if he has company left and right? After the continuing barrage of hate mail in the Daily Bee from unappreciative Bonner County citizens over pay raises given to Bonner County Sheriff’s deputies, raises that merely elevated them from the status of “food stamp” deputies to a livable wage, I can conclude that some residents left and right undoubtedly join the hate-filled individual above in devaluing the life of a law enforcement officer as inconsequential. We have witnessed endless negative comments from Daily Bee bloggers, including many so-called “conservatives,” attacking pay increases for the deputies and our very able county sheriff. I must conclude that the aberrant cop-hating, left-wing individual referenced above has right-wing company in his loathing of the law enforcement community.

But everyone loves a cop when they need one.
