Help orange flags find their way home

| August 7, 2012 7:00 AM

Orange flags have been posted at three sites in Sandpoint to help walkers alert drivers before stepping off the curb at dangerous crosswalks. Adults and children depend on them. The police have stated that they greatly increase the visibility of those crossing the street.

Recently, we made changes in the flats so they do not look like the typical orange flag. We cut the corners and spotted them with yellow paint. Over the past couple of years, many flags have disappeared. If you see an orange flag with yellow blotches that is not where it should be, please return it to one of the containers at Fifth and Poplar, Fifth and Church or Third and Pine. Those who depend on these flats to safely cross at dangerous intersections, thank you.
