Bokowy, Deitz lead Sharks in Long Course Championships
SPOKANE — Payton Bokowy won the 50 free and Emily Deitz was fourth in the 50 back to lead 12 Sandpoint Sharks at the Inland Empire Long Course Championships recently at the Witter Pool in Spokane.
The meet featured 485 swimmers from around the Northwest, including a host of returning college swimmers and a few who swam at the Olympic Trials.
“Emily Deitz has been training hard all summer and she had a great meet, dropping time in most events and making it to finals both days,” said Sharks coach Mike Brosnahan, lauding the elite competition at the meet. “It’s a big deal, and there are some fast swimmers. SWAC did well for bringing a small crowd of 12 swimmers.”
Bokowy was also sixth in the 200 free and ninth in the 200 IM, while Deitz also finished eighth in the 100 free and ninth in the 100 back.
Also scoring points for the Sharks were Jacob Ballard (9th in the 50 breast), Miles Luce (11th in the 50 fly) and Kate Matlosz (11th in the 200 breast).
