New charge is filed against driver who fled
SANDPOINT — A new criminal charge has been filed against a Clark Fork woman accused of leaving the scene of a deadly crash, according to the Idaho Statewide Trial Court Automated Record System.
The case and the nature of the charge remain filed under sealed, although ISTARS indicates it was filed after Brianna Lucille Knapp was charged with leaving the scene of the June 24 collision. The case will remain sealed until she makes an initial appearance in the magistrate division of 1st District Court.
Knapp is free on her own recognizance while awaiting a preliminary hearing on the leaving-the-scene charge, which is set for Sept. 5.
A preliminary hearing was set for this month, although it was continued because the investigation was still ongoing.
Idaho State Police said Kurt P. Henson was westbound on Highway 200 when he hit an abrupt lane edge in a construction zone and crashed his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Knapp, state police said, was also westbound and crashed her pickup truck into Henson, 47, of Post Falls.
Henson died at the scene and a passenger on the motorcycle, 43-year-old Kimberly Lenox, 43, also of Post Falls, survived the crash.
Knapp, 28, left the scene and was picked up by a passerby and driven back to Clark Fork, according to court documents. Knapp was arrested the next day when she reported to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.
Knapp denied drinking on the day of the crash, but admitted that there was a container of alcohol in the rig from the day before the crash, the state police report said.
