Account set up for Martin family
BONNERS FERRY — An account has been set up to help the family of a soldier killed in Afghanistan with funeral expenses.
Spc. Ethan J. Martin, 22, died Aug. 7 in Koragay, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he encountered enemy small-arms fire. He was assigned to 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank to the Ethan Martin Memorial Fund.
Martin’s funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bonners Ferry High School. A ceremony with full military honors will follow at Paradise Valley Cemetery.
His family has described Martin as a “very loving young man with a tender heart,” who planned to go to nursing school after his service in the military.
Martin leaves behind a loving family and many friends in Bonners Ferry and northern Idaho.
His family includes his father, Harv (Pam) Martin of Bonners Ferry; his mother, Kristie (Bob) Suprenant of Lewiston; a sister, four stepsisters and three stepbrothers; and his grandparents, Harvey (Gail) Martin of Quartzside, Ariz., Paulette Marcy of Sandpoint and Fran Oakes of Lewiston.
