SANDPOINT — Demonstrating both composure and the ability to finish, Jeremiah Gagnon and Anthony Fox each scored two goals to lead Sandpoint to a 4-0 blanking of Lewiston in nonleague boys soccer Thursday at Centennial Field.

The Bulldogs (2-1) controlled possession throughout, and kept the pressure in Lewiston’s back third with 12 shots on goal.

Head coach Adam Tajan praised the play of the defense, notably Jeff Rokstad, who beat the Lewiston forwards to the ball all game on the long attacking passes.

“Jeffrey was huge in the back with senior leadership,” said Tajan. “It was our second clean sheet, and both keepers were solid.

Austin Keyes and Jake Rookey each played a half in goal to combine for the Bulldogs’ second straight shutout of a 5A school.

Sandpoint will get one of its toughest nonleague tests of the year at Post Falls on Tuesday.
