Kiebert sisters help Bulldogs earn tie with Bengals

SANDPOINT — Junior Kaylee Kiebert found the back of the net off an assist from younger sister and freshman Nan Kiebert midway through the second half, but Lewiston had a quick answer in a 1-1 tie in nonleague girls soccer Thursday at Centennial Field.

Sandpoint head coach Conor Baranski liked how his team pushed the pace in the second half, and the strong attacking of Emma Weme up top.

“She created havoc and opportunities, and that’s exactly what I wanted from her,” said Baranski, who felt his team played better than in the 1-1 tie with Lake City on Tuesday. “Team-wide, we were much better in the second half.”

The Bulldogs (0-0-2) held a 1-0 lead for nine minutes, before the Lewiston striker  lofted a looping ball just under the top of the frame for the equalizer. Goalie Makayla Sundquist then made a couple of big saves down the stretch to keep the game tied.

Sandpoint is at Post Falls on Tuesday.
