Train station is only sore spot over road

| August 28, 2012 7:00 AM

Now that the people’s good sense have prevailed and the byway is open, we need to look at what we have.

I now can see that our town has a public beach and several nice marinas and waterways that can actually be seen by travelers. What we have created is worth more than all the stories in travel magazines put together.

The one sore point is that the train station is now highlighted for all to see. Before it was just a building to be written about but remained unseen. We, as a city, need to get together and repair the fascia boards and make the station live again. A nice sign telling byway travelers about it and that they can come here by train would be nice, too.

I totally lack leadership ability but if lumber yards will donate wood and someone will make sure we do it right, I am sure there will be many volunteers to help fix up our train station.
