WALLACE — Annie Wurm had 35 set assists and Mariah Miller 22 kills to lead Clark Fork at the season-opening North Star League volleyball tournament on Saturday in Wallace.

The Wampus Cats downed Wallace 25-21, 25-20 and beat Kootenai 25-20, 25-20 for their two wins, but lost 25-23, 25-20 to eventual champion Lakeside and 27-25, 25-20 to runner up Mullan.

“This is going to be a really good year competition-wise, and we went into the tournament not really expecting that,” said Cats head coach Michelle Adams, whose team has won the last three NSL titles. “We’ll have to prove ourselves during the season.”

Lyndsie Kiebert added 16 digs and 10 kills, Heather Wold 26 digs, Dimi Kailang five blocks and Autumn Wagoner two blocks to lead the Cats (2-2).

Clark Fork hosts 3A Timberlake tonight.
