Bulldogs fall flat in opener
LEWISTON — Hailey Olin led Sandpoint with seven kills, 18 digs and three blocks, but the Bulldogs never found a consistent rhythm in their season opener, falling 25-18, 24-26, 25-20 and 25-19 to the Bengals on Tuesday night in nonleague volleyball at Lewiston High School.
“It was disappointing for us. I didn’t feel like anyone played like they normally do,” said head coach Karen Alsager. “The other team just played better, and it didn’t feel like we showed up.”
Kennedy Search tallied 28 set assists, and the Bulldogs (0-1) had a solid block and served well, but couldn’t seem to push past the 5A Bengals.
“I know they can play so much better than that, we definitely have some things to work on,” said Alsager. “I’m looking forward to the next match so we can rectify this.”
The Bulldogs host Lake City on Thursday in their home opener.
The SHS JV team won 24-26, 25-19 and 15-13.
