Fox goal not enough as Bulldogs fall to Trojans

| August 29, 2012 7:00 AM

POST FALLS — Anthony Fox scored his third goal in the past two games, but it wasn’t enough as Sandpoint fell 2-1 to 5A power Post Falls on Tuesday in nonleague boys soccer at Post Falls High School.

Timmy Mueller, arguably the most dangerous offensive player in the Inland Empire League, scored two goals for the Trojans (4-0), who held Sandpoint scoreless until the 79th minute.

“They’re a good, tough team and played us tough in the first half,” Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson said of Sandpoint. “We were able to hold on and scored another goal (in the second half), but it was a hard-fought match and very physical.”

Sandpoint (2-2) hosts Coeur d’Alene on Thursday for the second time this season, looking to avenge a 3-1 loss in the season opener.
