Bush, GOP to blame for economic crisis

| August 30, 2012 7:00 AM

Once again Republicans are blaming President Obama for the crisis in our country both economic and moral. In reality, George Bush and the Republicans are the real culprits. Now they blame Obama because Congress has done nothing in four years to help stabilize the economy and reduce unemployment.

George Bush took a robust economy and completely gutted it, started two no-win wars, cut taxes so our infrastructure collapses and gave control of our country over to the wealthy, big banks and big profit business with no oversight.

The Republicans will not support any Obama programs even when it is obvious that the country would benefit. Big business is still making profits but are hiding the money in non-taxable off-shore accounts.

The Republicans say the problems with education is the teachers, the problems with industry is labor and benefits, the problems with Social Security and Medicare would be solved with major cuts in benefits.

Republicans do not want to put taxes back to pre-Bush era rates because that would hurt the wealthy and the job creators, big business. They DO want to close a tax loophole — a deduction the average person can take for interest paid on your mortgage.

Republicans rail against socialism and want to privatize education, Social Security, Medicaid and other federal programs.

We should be extremely grateful every time we take a hike in the woods, stop our boats on the shores of our lakes or just enjoy the view that belongs to all of us, socialists.
