Torrid Fox leads Bulldogs past Vikings
SANDPOINT — Sandpoint senior Anthony Fox blasted in his fourth goal in the past three games, leading Sandpoint to a 3-1 win over Coeur d’Alene in nonleague boys soccer Thursday at Centennial Field.
“Fox continues to light it up,” said Bulldogs head coach Adam Tajan, calling the goal a beautiful finish. “You expect your seniors to catch fire, and he’s doing that right now.”
Raleigh Hanson gave the Bulldogs (3-2) an early lead in the 14th minute, and Aaron Crossingham added some insurance with a penalty kick, after Jeremiah Gagnon was fouled in the box.
Jake Rookey posted six saves in goal to pick up his third win, allowing just one unassisted goal right before the half by Graison Le.
Keegan Shillington stopped five shots for the Vikings (3-1), who generated some decent chances but were wild on the shots.Sandpoint hosts Stillwater Christian on Saturday, while the Vikings travel to Post Falls on Tuesday.

n Sundquist comes up big in Bulldogs’ win
COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Meghan Pagano scored her first goal of the season off a flip throw in by Nan Kiebert, and Makayla Sundquist was rock solid in goal to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-1win over the Vikings on Thursday in nonleague girls soccer at Coeur d’Alene High School.
Sundquist had a stellar game to help the Bulldogs (2-0-2) take down their second consecutive 5A opponent.
“Makayla had a few massive saves and really came up big for us,” said head coach Conor Baranski, who still feels his team has plenty of room for improvement. “We’re beating 5A schools, so something is going right.”
Brittany Tackett scored in the 63rd minute for Coeur d’Alene (1-2).
Sandpoint is at University today.
