Hometown event honors veterans
More than 300 veterans came by The Kootenai Sub Shoppe for lunch and camaraderie during Veterans Day weekend.
The festive lunch was put together by owner LeAnna Porarth and her mother Barbara. They were assisted in making the event work by Jim and Marti Ashford and Dave and Laurie Wall.
The proximity to Thanksgiving reminded everyone of the debt we owe our veterans for keeping us free.
LeAnna’s granddaughter, Scout — a curious, charming and loquacious kindergartner — is a reminder that she needs a free and secure homeland.
Not only did the more than 300 veterans have a great lunch but many of them won pies and other prizes. This is a hometown event that everyone hopes will continue because our debt to our veterans can never be “paid in full.”
