Miller leads Wampus Cats in defeat

CLARK FORK — Mariah Miller posted a team-high 11 points and seven steals, but 3A Bonners Ferry simply had too much depth, as the Badgers jumped out early and cruised to a 56-17 win over the Wampus Cats in nonleague girls basketball Thursday night at Clark Fork High School.

“She hustled and worked hard,” said Cats coach Dexter Vogel of his senior. “She’s still a little bit behind, but when she gets it, she’ll be great.”

Annie Wurm and Alicia Heigis each had six rebounds for the Wampus Cats (2-4), helping pick up the rebounding slack from Tess Vogel, who sat out with an injury.

Jasmine Hill scored 11 to lead the Badgers (3-1), who held the Cats to single digits in each quarter.

“The Badgers played a very aggressive man defense, and they’re quick,” said Vogel. “They’re a darn good looking ball team.”

Clark Fork is at Mullan on Tuesday in a North Star League battle.
