PENDLETON, Ore. — Playing without injured starters Jordan Speelmon and Hailey Olin, freshman Madi Schoening stepped up to fill the scoring void, dropping in a career-high 19 points to go with 11 rebounds and three assists, leading Sandpoint to a 52-21 win over Pasco in the third place game of the Pendleton Tournament on Saturday.

Trailing 13-9 after the first quarter, the Bulldogs dominated the second and third quarters, outscoring Pasco 32-2 during a defensively dominating stretch to put the game away.

Nikole Alamillo added 11 points, Karlee Williams six points and four boards, and Cassie Young five points and five rebounds for the Bulldogs, who continued a season-long trend of dominating third quarters.

“We controlled the boards at both ends, and it was a dominating team effort,” said first year Bulldogs head coach Bill Bender. “Madi shouldered the bulk of the scoring load and Lily Martin, Kendra Corless and Maryah Delgado shared point guard duties.”

Sandpoint hosts Kellogg on Tuesday.
