Staff made adoption a positive experience

| December 9, 2012 6:00 AM

I would like to publicly thank and compliment the staff and volunteers of the Panhandle Animal Shelter for the very positive experience I recently had in adopting two cats.

This was my first visit to the shelter, and I can’t say enough good things about it. The facility is perfect for the animals. It is clean, organized and welcoming. Although the staff and volunteers were busy caring for the animals, they spent time offering suggestions and giving advice. I was able to spend sufficient time in one of the “cat dormitories” until two of them sought me out. It turned out that the two cats, Lois and Clark, actually adopted me.

The small fee for the cats included identification chips, which they registered to me, medical records and a free examination at a participating veterinarian. They even provided me with a free bag of cat food.

If you have room in our life for a pet, I strong urge you to adopt one (or more) at the Panhandle Animal Shelter. If you don’t, I urge you to support the shelter. This can be accomplished by patronizing their gift shop, donating goods to the gift shop, supporting charitable organizations that support the shelter, or making a donations directly to the shelter.

Your donations will go to a very good cause.
