Holland and Kearney team up for SBX victory
MONTAFON, Austria — Sandpoint native Nate Holland teamed up with Hagen Kearney (Telluride, Colorado) for an impressive snowboardcross win at the FIS World Cup team race in Montafon, Austria on Saturday, raced the entire way through adverse weather conditions.
The previous day Holland finished 18th in the first SBX World Cup race of the season, ahead of younger brother Pat, who finished 32nd in a field of more than 70 riders. Holland called the team win awesome, and said he enjoys the relay-style team races.
“After yesterday I was hungry. I didn’t race so well yesterday, but I had to win something in Austria just like two years ago in Lech. I also had some success in Bad Gastein,” said Holland after the win. “I like races in Austria, the fans are great and fired up.”
The team heads to the first domestic FIS World Cup the USANA Snowboardcross Cup at Telluride, Colorado on Dec. 13-15. The event will be televised by NBC sports.
