Stillwater takes down Cats in doubleheader
CLARK FORK — Tristin Bristol posted another double-double, scoring 11 points to go with 13 boards, but a tough second quarter proved too much to overcome, as the Wampus Cats fell 61-42 to Stillwater Christian in nonleague boys basketball Thursday night at Clark Fork High School.
Joey Hazinsky added 10 points, three assists and three steals for the Wampus Cats (2-6), Zach Nesbitt four steals and three assists and Zack Klein nine points in defeat.
The Cats looked great at times, facing a team as tough as any they’ll see in North Star League play, but were outscored 21-9 during a pivotal second quarter.
“We played very well on defense, they had to work for their shots,” said Cats head coach Corey Vogel. “When we got the ball into the post, that’s when we had our opportunities. Stillwater had that run in the second half that cost us.”
Stillwater was led by 6-foot-3 senior guard Josh Bray, who poured in a game-high 31 points. Bray, who averages 27 points a game, featured a quick first step, big hops and a soft touch from inside and out, and ultimately was the difference in an otherwise even game.
Clark Fork is at Kootenai on Saturday.
