Cartoon disrespectful to Catholics, pope

| December 18, 2012 6:00 AM

Freedom of the press is one thing — but to flaunt a “cartoon” of Pope Benedict XVI, the head of the Catholic Church, in the Dec. 13. 2012, issue, is another and attests to your disrespect and lack of discretion.

What were you thinking when you copied some joker’s “brain-child” and displayed it in your paper for our little town and county to admire.

I am offended and I am sure that your Catholic clientele shares my feelings and opinion.

Just one question: Would you display a cartoon of Mohammed, Islam’s prophet, and some of his idiosyncrasies pertaining to Sharia law? I think not. Repercussions would be yours to deal with!

So why do you think that you can offend Catholics and get away with it. Is your assumption that we “turn the other cheek”?
