Domestic dispute ends with arrest

SANDPOINT — A Bonner County man was arrested Sunday after allegedly scuffling with a deputy investigating domestic dispute in which death threats were made.

Chad David Bowman is charged with battery on a law officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence in the presence of children and resisting arrest.

Bowman made an initial appearance in magistrate court on Monday, where his bail was set at $110,000. The appointment of a public defender was pending.

Deputy Alex Hughes responded to Bowman’s home in the 500 block of Edgemere Cutoff Road after dispatch received a report of a domestic dispute and/or a weapons offense, court records indicate.

Bowman, 37, threatened to kill his family and discharged a firearm outside their residence but in close proximity of others, a criminal complaint alleges. There were no injuries, although at least one of the witnesses told authorities he feared his life.

Bowman was taken into custody with escalating resistance, according to a probable cause affidavit. While being escorted from the residence, Bowman allegedly lowered his shoulder and plowed into Hughes, knocking him to the ground.

Bowman was further subdued with ankle shackles.
