Weindl leads Bulldog wrestlers at Tri-State

COEUR d’ALENE — Junior Adam Weindl (170 pounds) won twice and lost twice, leading six Bulldogs at the Tri-State wrestling meet at North Idaho College on Friday and Saturday.

Weindl, seeded No. 6, won by pin in his first round match, before getting knocked into consolation when he was pinned in the first period of his second round match. In consolation, Weindl pinned teammate Jonathan McCormick in 1:28, before being eliminated in the next round by fall at 4:21.

Tanner McNelly (113) lost twice at a tournament where there are no easy matches, as did Lewis Dunton (132).

Chris Bunty (160) lost in his first match, bounced back to win 7-1 in consolation, before being elimated by fall at 2:19 in his final match.

McCormick (170) was pinned in his first match, bounced back to win by pin at 3:38 in his second match, before being eliminated by Weindl.

Josh Travers (195) was pinned in :43 seconds by the eventual champion from Hermiston, before being knocked out of the tournament with a 9-0 lead in the consolation bracket.

Sandpoint (1-1) heads north to face Bonners Ferry tonight in the third dual of the season.
