SANDPOINT — The Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce welcomes Sanctuary Seconds to the organization.

The store has been a part of the community at various locations for the last eight years. In September, the thrift store moved to its new location at 521 Church St. and plan to expand in the near future. The store is open weekdays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. (10 a.m.-5 p.m. in the summer) and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Their new location offers a fun, pleasant and affordable shopping for customers, Lifetime Friends’ Michael Sowders. The thrift store is a fundraiser for the animal sanctuary, which helps stray, abused and abandoned animals with a primary focus on cats.

“Sanctuary Seconds is a 100-percent volunteer powered thrift shop,” Sowders said.

The store is a 501(c)3 non-profit, which means it offers tax deductible donations of funds and clean saleable goods. Sowders said the store appreciates the community’s patronage and added they always looking for more volunteers.

“Volunteers ensure the continuation of this mission of compassionate caring for our fellow beings,” he said.

Sowders cares for more than 150 cats at his four-acre, cyclone-fenced, multi-house compound. Adoptions to new loving homes are welcomed and greatly cherished, he said.
