Bulldogs fall to Moscow
SANDPOINT — The one-two punch of Derek Pennington and Lane Brooks, who combined for 35 points, helped Moscow control the second half of a 64-50 win over Sandpoint in 4A Inland Empire League basketball Saturday at Les Rogers Court.
Jackson Olin dropped in 20 points to lead the Bulldogs (7-12, 1-3 4A IEL), who went into the locker room tied 22-22 before the Bears (8-9, 4-0 4A IEL) found their offensive rhythm in a 42 point second half.
Sandpoint head coach Tyler Haynes said Brooks, who had 13 points and five assists, was the difference in the second half.
“We beat them (Moscow) on the boards, and they’re huge compared to us,” said Bulldogs’ coach Tyler Haynes, who likes how his team is competing lately. “We’ve played five really good games in a row. We’ve found five guys that really want to go out and set the pace.”
Adam Couch scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds, Tyler Howk scored 10 and Sam Nitcy and Ryan Schwartz each dished out three assists for Sandpoint, which hosts Lake City on Thursday.
