Chamber forum targets data protection
SANDPOINT — The protection of proprietary information will take center stage at Thursday’s Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce luncheon.
The meeting begins at noon in the Panhandle State Bank building’s community room.
Stan Birnbaum and Toby McLaughlin of Berg & McLaughlin will offer suggestions on how to protect yourself and your business.
The pair will discuss how a company should manage and control its proprietary information. Trade secrets, customer lists, business plans are important pieces of a business, the pair said. There are many different types of confidentiality agreements and notices that can be used with employees and contractors to help businesses protect their information, they added.
Stanley Birnbaum has been practicing law for more than 30 years in Washington, California and most recently Idaho.
After starting out as a software engineer in the aerospace industry, Birnbaum returned to school to get his law degree. He has substantial experience in securities law and software licensing.
Toby McLaughlin is a Sandpoint native who moved back home in 2006 after attending the University of Idaho and University of Oregon for his bachelor’s degree in economics, law degree, and Master’s of Business Administration degree.
He has experiences in real estate law, civil litigation, creditor’s rights, white collar criminal defense and currently practices civil litigation, real estate law, guardianship issues, personal injury, contract, disputes and small business issues.
