Support of residents, community amazing

| February 19, 2012 6:00 AM

A year ago, my husband, Rick and I flew to Florida to take a cruise. Our lives were turned upside down when he suffered a serious stroke. We were in Florida for four-and-half months before we were able to get him home on a medical escort. I want to thank the many people who supported us through this difficult time. Sandpoint is an amazing community.

Thank you to Debbie and Allan Koski, our friends who were with us when it happened. They were awesome! Thank you to Kurt (Sandpoint native!) and Lisa Berkley for opening their home to me while I was in Florida. Thank you to David and Julie Smith and Bud and Joyce Smith for taking care of our house during those winter months. Thank you to Marianne Love for helping to “Bring Rick Home.” Thank you to all the people who contributed to bringing Rick home. The outpouring was amazing! Friends and neighbors contributed. People we didn’t even know contributed! There were those who remained anonymous. Thank you to all! Thank you to St. Joseph’s for prayers and support. Thank you to all my friends who sent cards and moral support during my time in Florida. Sandpoint is an amazing community.

Thank you to Life Care who provided us a very good transition back to Sandpoint. Thank you to Bonner General for the amazing home health and the equaling amazing outpatient care. Rick is progressing very well with the help of all the very competent therapists. Thank you to my neighbors who help with transportation to therapy. It’s simple: Sandpoint is an amazing community.

Thank you, Sandpoint!
