It's about the survival of capitalism, folks

| February 23, 2012 6:00 AM

The election this year is about how we want to live as citizens here in America. It’s not about contraception, same sex marriage, race issues, or Newt’s previous wife. It’s not about the smear campaign going on all sides of the Republican primary process, muddying the waters for voters looking for answers to our present calamities and uncertain future. It’s about our freedom and the survival of capitalism as a way of life. It’s about the American dream our parents fought for in two world wars and most people on the planet would gladly trade their present life to realize. We live in a truly free country, but its changing … fast.

I don’t hate Barack Obama, I believe he truly thinks he is doing the right thing. I detest what I envision our country will look like if he gets another four years. The rapid erosion of the private sector giving way to big government control is scary. His misguided policies are decimating the economy and preventing any timely recovery.

Instead of uniting and leading the people, he has divided us based on how much we have in our wallets. The president with a fuzzy past has given us a road map that is quite clear. His current budget adds $1.3 trillion to our debt. Record spending, seemingly placed in strategic areas to get him re-elected, is unconscionable.

Someone has got to step up and address the debt, it must include cutting entitlements, a death sentence in an election year I know. A real leader would find the courage to sell it to the public. That man sure isn’t Obama.
