Badgers run wild over Wampus Cats

| January 6, 2012 6:00 AM

CLARK FORK — Zack Klein scored a team-high 14 points, but it wasn’t enough as 1A Clark Fork was outmatched by 3A Bonners Ferry in a 65-27 loss in nonleague boys basketball Thursday night in Clark Fork.

Stillman Berkley added eight points, nine rebounds and four assists, Axel Anderson and Tristin Bristol each pulled down seven rebounds and Zach Nesbitt added four steals for the Wampus Cats (2-7), who managed just nine first half points.

“We came out a little cold. We hadn’t played in a month and weren’t hitting out shots,” said Cats head coach Corey Vogel. “Bonners was shooting the lights out from outside, but we kept our cool. The score isn’t indicative of how well we played.”

Bradley Clausen poured in 27 for the Badgers, who built a 30 point half time lead.

The road doesn’t get any easier for the Cats, who travel to Montana to face Stillwater Christian, which is akin to a 4A team in Idaho.
