Bulldog girls fall to No. 1 ranked Vikings

COEUR d’ALENE — The visiting Bulldogs took a 4-3 lead, but the Vikings outscored them 18-2 the rest of the quarter and pulled away for a 70-31 win in a  nonleague game at Elmer Jordan Court on Tuesday night.

Hailey Olin and Maggie Kirscher each scored 15 points, accounting for all but one of their team’s points on the night. Kara Bruce and Jordan Speelmon each had four rebounds for the Bulldogs (6-9).

“We had 15 turnovers in the first half and only four in the second,” said Bulldogs assistant Melvin Speelmon. “Maggie and Hailey had good games, and we played better in the second half.”

Erin Legel totaled 16 points and five steals for Coeur d’Alene (14-2), ranked No. 1 in 5A. Kendalyn Brainard added 14 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals, Sydney Williams had 14 points, Caelyn Orlandi 11 points and four assists, and Kyeli Parker five assists.

Sandpoint is at St. Maries on Thursday night.
