Farber leading Sockers during undefeated season
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Sandpoint native Brian Farber is playing a big role in the San Diego Sockers undefeated season, using his speed and quickness to make an impact in the Professional Arena Soccer League.
Farber scored a goal and dished out two assists as the Sockers (11-0) downed the Arizona Storm 9-3 on Sunday, putting the Sockers one win away from the U.S. Open Cup championship for Arena Soccer. The Sockers will face either Detroit or Cincinnati on the road in the Open Cup Championship during Presidents Day Weekend.
The Sockers have now won an unbelievable 25 straight matches, and improved to a perfect 30-0 all time at their home Del Mar Arena.
Farber has played a key role in the team’s success, tallying 19 goals and nine assists while playing in all 11 games. In a 13-6 win over Tacoma on Jan. 14, Farber scored five goals to go with an assist, and is currently second on the Sockers with 28 points on the season.
The former Striker, Bulldog, NIC Cardinal, and Oregon State Beaver returns to Sandpoint each summer to host a popular soccer camp.
San Diego returns to action after a short week of rest and training, heading to Anaheim on Friday night for the fourth and final matchup between the Sockers and the Anaheim Bolts (3-6).
