Hawks press SHS to claim 47-33 victory

SANDPOINT — Cieana Close scored a team-high 12 points to lead the Hawks past the Bulldogs in a 4A Inland Empire League game at Les Rogers Court.

“They just got us tonight,” Sandpoint assistant coach Melvin Speelmon said. “They pressed us and we couldn’t get over that hump. Lakeland did really well defensively tonight and we just couldn’t get the ball inside.”

Hailey Olin scored 16 points for Sandpoint (8-11, 0-4 4A IEL), which hosts Lewiston today.

Toni Tapplin scored nine points for Lakeland (11-9, 2-2), which hosts Sandpoint to open the 4A Region 1 tournament on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
