LACLEDE — A motorcyclist was injured Sunday after a motorist pulled out in front on him on U.S. Highway 2.

Idaho State Police said Eric J. Taylor, 16, was headed northbound on Riley Creek Road and attempting to cross the highway, but failed to yield to traffic and pulled into the path of Kenneth N. Shaw, a 54-year-old from Priest River who was westbound.

Shaw, who was wearing a helmet, crashed his Harley-Davidson into the rear quarter panel of Taylor’s Oldsmobile Alero compact, state police said. Shaw was taken to Bonner General Hospital for treatment.

Taylor, of Priest River, was not injured. A passenger in the four-door compact, 16-year-old Matthew Cook of Woodbridge, Va., also escaped injury, according to ISP. Both occupants were wearing seat belts.

Taylor was cited for a failure to yield, according to the Idaho Supreme Court Data Repository.

Three motorcyclists have been killed on Panhandle highways this year.
