Community's support made event possible

| July 12, 2012 7:00 AM

The committee for the Class of 2012’s Grad Night party would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community for the support it gave us for this year’s end of year celebration for the area’s graduating seniors.

The party is put on by the parents of the senior class to not only celebrate this important milestone in our children’s lives but also to provide them with a safe venue to revel in their accomplishments and have a final get together with their classmates before they head off in separate directions to begin the next chapter in their lives.

Just a few weeks before the Grad Night party, a very powerful program was put on by area agencies including Bonner General Hospital and area first responders. It showed the students firsthand the dangers of drinking and driving. We believe that if it weren’t for the students having a place to go to celebrate their graduation, that mock DUI scene could very likely be a reality for one of the young adults in our community.

The donations given to this year’s event enabled us to provide a great evening of fun, food, games, entertainment and prizes. Our committee understands that it is not always easy to give, but we were amazed at the desire of so many people and businesses to do what they could go keep our students safe.

Thank you for caring about our children.
