Trial ordered for accused burglar
SANDPOINT — A Sandpoint man was ordered Wednesday to stand trial for allegedly being caught red-handed burglarizing a home and attempting to take a firearm.
But Judge Justin Julian dismissed additional charges that Donald Robert Rasor tried to steal two checkbooks from the home and burglarized a condominium after being chased from the southside home. Julian ruled there was insufficient evidence to support those charges.
A sixth charge alleging Rasor committed felony vandalism during the brief spree was abandoned by the state, court records show.
Rasor, 52, is scheduled to be arraigned in 1st District Court on the surviving criminal charges next month. He remains jailed with bail set at $100,000.
Rasor was allegedly found inside a couple’s Dearborn Street home on June 27. The husband gave chase and Rasor fled to Condo del Sol. Two teens who were returning to their unit reportedly found Rasor inside.
Sandpoint Police confronted Rasor, who was nonchalantly eating a peach, the arrest report said.
